New Organ Blower

October 2007

As an added bonus, we have been able to purchase a brand new organ blower due to two generous donations and this has now been installed.

Our previous blower was a reconditioned Rockingham and had been in continuous service since 1930. It had served the organ well and whilst still in working order was now quite noisy and rather agricultural.

The Contract is signed

February 2006

David Wood came along to meet the PCC at an open meeting on Monday 20th February. He reminded us of the quality of the instrument, explained some of the work that would take place and assured us that, with the traditional methods that will be used, the instrument will be restored to its original condition. David's enthusiasm clearly shone through and I think everyone felt it will be an exciting project, watching the instrument being taken apart piece by piece and even more interesting watching it being put back together in the right order!!

During this meeting we had the chance to ask questions about practical and financial matters. These questions being satisfactorily answered, everyone was happy for the project to go ahead.

Therefore, the contract with Wood of Huddersfield has been duly signed and the work will begin late September 2006.

Pennies for Pipes

October 2005

Sponsor a Pipe displayAt the end of July we put an organ pipe in church to be filled with pennies. On the 2nd September we managed to get an article in the Nelson Leader and this has prompted many people outside church to pass on their coppers.

Hence you see some parishioners walking to church lopsided, from the coppers in their pockets weighing them down!!

March 2008 - Update!

As of March 2008, the amount raised has reached a staggering £533.

Well done everyone, especially all the young children who continually applied the pressure every Sunday morning on parents, grandparents and other relations for a few coppers to put in the pipe.

Keep the pennies coming!
